Arrival & Parking

Bad Eisenkappel is the southernmost town in Austria, situated at an altitude of 555 meters above sea level. The ticket office is located directly at the main square. The Obir Dripstone Caves themselves are at an altitude of 1078 meters above sea level and can only be reached via the cave bus. You can arrive by private car or by train/bus.

You can reach us from the north via the A2 highway. Take the Völkermarkt Ost exit if you are coming from the direction of Graz. Then simply follow the road towards Bad Eisenkappel (via Kühnsdorf, Eberndorf, and Sittersdorf/Miklauzhof).

Take the Grafenstein exit if you are coming from the direction of Villach and follow the road through Grafenstein and Gallizien to Bad Eisenkappel. From the highway exit, plan for about 30-35 minutes of driving time.

Parking in Bad Eisenkappel

 

In Bad Eisenkappel, there are two large gravel parking areas (Parking Area opposite Spar market) where you can park your private car for free during your visit.

Please note that all parking spots in the town center are short-term parking zones, and parking here for a cave visit is not possible (the duration exceeds the allowable short-term parking time).

Therefore, pay attention to the parking symbols (Parking Area) when driving into the town.

Arrival by Train and Bus

 

There are several connections to Bad Eisenkappel daily:

Monday to Friday on working days: From Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof or St. Paul im Lavanttal with S-Bahn S3 to Grafenstein, then transfer to Regional Bus 5356 to Bad Eisenkappel Zentrum

Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays: From Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof or St. Paul im Lavanttal with S-Bahn S3 to Kühnsdorf-Klopeinersee, then transfer to Regional Bus 5416 to Bad Eisenkappel Zentrum
